Sometimes you just need to start

Has this ever been you?

Let me paint a picture, My two daughters share a room and I'm currently sitting in the middle of a high pile of clothes that I can't seem to keep up with, again. I am seriously asking myself "How I am here again?" considering, I felt like I was caught up on wash just a few days ago!

I am considering what makes this hard and made a list so it was all on the table for me to see:

  • Things don't come through the wash together because we are a little hap-hazard fam in that way, and somehow my children have developed a cute little tendency to take their tops and bottoms off on completely different floors.

  • I don't have enough space for their clothes in the drawers that they have currently, and, it seems like they wear the same three things every day.

  • We don't stick to chore routines, so I need this done today and sometimes it's easier to just do it yourself, right?!

Here is a little secret: It's not about the clothes. It's about simplicity.

Simplifying your approach to kids' clothes isn't just about ease – it's a sustainable choice. By embracing a minimalist system, you contribute to sustainability in a few ways. Here is what I found in life by using my clothes dilemma as a vehicle to explore.

  • Reduced Waste: Selective hand-me-downs and regular decluttering minimize the accumulation of unused clothes. This translates to less waste in landfills and a more environmentally friendly approach.

  • Conscious Consumption: Choosing to keep only what your kids truly use promotes mindful consumption. It prevents unnecessary purchases, reducing your environmental footprint.

  • Community Sharing: Passing on clothes to other moms fosters a sense of community and sharing. It extends the life cycle of clothes, reducing the need for constant production and consumption. How many times have you heard a mom who gave you clothes say " I loved it when they wore that!"

  • Teaching Values: Embracing simplicity in managing clothes teaches your children about responsible consumption and the importance of considering the environmental impact of our choices.

In essence, keeping things simple aligns with sustainable living practices. It's a step towards minimizing waste, fostering community connections, and instilling eco-conscious values in your family.

It's Hard, right? Yes, it is hard but it's also possible.

Take those small, intentional steps, and watch the positive changes unfold. Share your experiences and tips with fellow moms – let's build a community that values simplicity and sustainability. Together, we can make a difference, one thoughtful choice at a time.

Having kids can be quite a challenge when it comes to keeping up with their clothes and staying organized. Life can be this way, a lot, too. If you are going through a familiar struggle, I see you and the frustration of clothes piling up and the struggle to let go of items that come with it.

Practice letting go of that emotion you are holding on to, that process that is not serving you, that relationship that is bringing you pain. Challenge yourself and affirm to yourself that you are doing your best. Take those small, intentional steps, and watch the positive changes unfold. Share your experiences and tips with fellow moms – let's build a community that values simplicity and sustainability. Together, we can make a difference, one thoughtful choice at a time.
